Tirupur: The Tirupur Police are searching for the corpse of a man allegedly a thief, who fell into a pond after he was chased by the public.
Tirupur: The Tirupur Police are searching for the corpse of a man allegedly a thief, who fell into a pond after he was chased by the public.
Sivakumar, a hosiery unit worker from Guruvayurappan Nagar, near Boyampalayam in Tirupur, had lit lamps in front of his house on the occassion of Karthigai deepam festival.
Meanwhile, a man allegedly stole the brass lamps lit in front of the house. As Sivakumar screamed for help, the neighbours and the passersby chased the alleged thief who slipped into the nearby Nallaaru pond.
After the police were notified of the incident, the fire and rescue department was alerted to retrieve the man who allegedly drowned in the pond. Further investigations are on.
