Protests have intensified across the nation to the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Especially the bill has sparked outrage across Assam and Tripura. The government has pitched it as citizenship for minority communities forced to seek shelter in India because of religious persecution or its fear in their home countries and the opposition calls it unconstitutional and discriminatory.

In Tamil Nadu, DMK and allied parties along with Isalmic organisations are vehemently protesting against the bill calling it as 'unconstitutional'.

Cadres of DMK staged a demonstration against the bill here in front of Power house at Sivananda Colony. They tore the copies of the bill and raised slogans against the central government.

Following this, all DMK members were arrested.
