Arumugam (74) from Tirunelveli was employed in a petrol bunk near Singanallur on Trichy Road. Today afternoon, while he was returning to work after lunch, he was hit by a truck and died on the spot.
According to police reports, the elderly man was walking near VGM hospital bus stop, and unexpectedly a concrete mixer truck enroute from Kallimadai hit and ran over him. The man was reported dead on the spot.
Gandhipuram Traffic Police have filed a case and are investigating. The body of the deceased was sent to the Coimbatore GH for autopsy.
