Chennai: While political parties are gearing up for the upcoming local body elections, Kamal Haasan, President of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) has announced that his party will not contest in the local body elections. "Our focus is winning the 2021 State assembly elections", he said.

With elections to the rural local bodies are slated for December 27 and 30, Kamal Haasan has stated that the local body elections is about power of money than people's choice. "The elections will be a drama between the two Dravidian parties and dominance of money will supercede people's support. As MNM believes in honesty, we have chosen not to contest in the elections", he opined.

Rather, focus would be on 2021 State assembly elections, he asserted.
