Transgender Deepthi is the new recruit who will serve as Junior Assistant in the Nilgiris Forest Department.
In 2007, Subramaniam from Periyanaickenpalayam who was working with the Forest Department, Coimbatore, passed away in an accident. As he died during service, his son Subhan Raj, who later changed his name to Deepthi after becoming a transgender applied to his father's post.
"I will definitely do my best to help transgender people like me and am very proud to have been involved in this work," she said in a media interview.
