Coimbatore: Paying tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar, the father of constitution on his 64th death anniversary, Coimbatore CPM MP, PR. Natarajan paid tribute by leading the cadres on a silent march and paid floral tributes to his statue located at Tatabad in Coimbatore.

Addressing the Press he said, "Periyar followers and various social organizations including Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam are repeatedly demanding that the statue of Dr. Ambedkar should be placed in a prominent place in Coimbatore. The District Administration and the Corporation should immediately decide a place to install Dr. Ambedkar statue."
"All the 24 persons, including Nagai Thiruvalluvan who were arrested during protesting for the victims of Mettupalayam tragedy should be immediately released. As promised CPM will extend full support for the families of the deceased."
Hundreds of people from all walks of life also paid tributes to him.
