"In the recent times, Minister S.P. Velumani's brother S.P. Anbarasan has been increasingly interfering in the activities of Coimbatore Corporation. He is regularly spotted with officials during inspections of developmental activities and smart city projects", he noted.
"At whose behest such startling moves are being carried out? And on what grounds has he been allowed in official inspections and meetings..?", questioned the Singanallur MLA.
He also cited the recent press release from the City Corporation which said that Corporation Commissioner inspects bund restoration work at Ukkadam in the presence of Social activist, SP Anbarasan.
He added that while there are allegations that several corporation contracts have been biasedly awarded to his company, his recent interference in governmental activities is highly condemnable.
The MLA also alleged that SP Anbarasan had been highly involved in all preparatory works of the new South Zone, Corporation Office which was recently inaugurated by Minsiter SP Velumani. His interference is hindering the officials from discharging their duties, he alleged.
He criticised that while representatives elected by the people are ignored, people with no such position are given priority.
"Though I am a MLA, citing my party, I have been ignored. All my requests made on behalf of the people are constantly ignored ", he pointed.
He also highlighted that more than 800 houses near the Singanallur Uzhavar Sandhai are in a dilapidated condition. "Despite repeated requests in the assembly in 2016, 2017 and 2018, requesting to built new houses, no action has been taken. The Housing Development Board must take appropriate action or the DMK would stage a protest", he warned.
