Coimbatore: Expressing his heartfelt condolences to the family of 17 people who died in Mettupalayam house collapse tragedy,DMK President M.K. Stalin met the family members and consoled them.
Addressing the media, he alleged that, "The people of the locality had raised the issue with the Municipal authorities and the District Administration several times regarding the wall. If the authorities had paid heed to it and taken appropriate action, this disaster could have been averted."
He accused that the carelessness of the Government, Ministers and Officials is the reason for the death 17 people.
The DMK party leader condemned the attack by the police on the protestors. He slammed that "While the families are grieving for the departed souls resorting to such brutal attacks is inhumane. However, the perpetrators have not been arrested."
Standing in support with the demands of the victims families, Stalin insisted that a fair compensation, government jobs for the family member of the deceased and new houses be provided.
