Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, city police have arrested four people in connection with a alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Coimbatore.
The accused have been identified as Rahul (21), Prakash (22), Karthikeyan (28) and Narayanamorrthy (30) from Seeranaickenpalayam. The police are on the lookout for two others.
According to reports, on November 26, the 17-year-old from Seeranaickenpalayam here was celebrating her birthday with her boyfriend at a private garden. A gang of six-men who were in the park have allegedly assaulted her boyfriend and gang raped the girl and video taped the incident.
The next day the girl reported the incident to her mother and also lodged an complaint at RS Puram B2 police station. The police have booked the accused under POCSO.
All the four were produced in Mahila Court here today and imprisoned in Coimbatore central prison.
Two other accused Manikandan and his friend who are regarded to be the main accused in the alleged gang rape are reported absconding. The police are in search of them.
However, the police have denied that the incident was not a gang rape.
