The Nilgiris: After halting service for two weeks, the Nilgiris Mountain Rail (NMR) has resumed operation from Mettupalayam (MTP) to Coonoor. Rampant landslides, falling of trees and boulders at over 23 locations en route between Arderly and Hillgrove halted the NMR service from November 17.

Due to delay in repair works, the service which was expected to resume by November 24 was delayed and as announced the service had resumed today.
The train left from MTP to Conoor at 7.10 am with 200 tourists onboard. With heavy rains predicted for the coming week in the Nilgiris, any landslides could yet again affect NMR services.
