Coimbatore: A group of labourers, including women, were injured after being attacked by a swarm of bees at Ingippaarai Estate in Valparai of Coimbatore district on Friday.
Coimbatore: A group of labourers, including women, were injured after being attacked by a swarm of bees at Ingippaarai Estate in Valparai of Coimbatore district on Friday.
More than 30 workers of Ingippaarai Estate in Valparai were involved in plucking tea leaves, this morning. The labourers were all of a sudden attacked by a swam of bees from the nearby forest area. The shocked labourers took to their heels to escape the attack. However, many were injured.
More than 15 workers of the estate were injured in this incident. All the injured workers were rescued and immediately rushed to the hospital in the tea estate.
Among the injured, Panjavarnam, Arputhamani, Mariammal and Gnanathaai are reported to have sustained severe injurious and are under treatment.
The incident has left the tea estate workers worried who fear if the incident would reoccur.
