Accused, Abu Tahir (24) was involved in multiple bike robberies in and around Mettupalayam area. He has been produced in the Court and remanded in Coimbatore central prison.
Recently, Abdul Wahab, a resident of VOC Nagar in Sirumugai, Mettupalayam had lodged a complaint of his two-wheeler theft. Repeated complaints of two-wheeler theft in the area prompted the police to intensify patrols and vehicle inspection.
During a vehicle check on Friday night at Mettupalayam bus stand, the police intercepted Abu Tahir and found that the two-wheeler he was riding was a stolen one.
Upon inquiry, Abu Tahir confessed his involvement in several two-wheeler robbery and the one at VOC Colony. The police confiscated the vehicle and filed a case on him. He was produced at the Coimbatore District Court and later imprisoned.
