Tirupur: Three among the six-member gang who impersonated as CID officers and cheated Rs. 3 lakhs from a grocery store owner in Tirupur was arrested by the police.
Tirupur: Three among the six-member gang who impersonated as CID officers and cheated Rs. 3 lakhs from a grocery store owner in Tirupur was arrested by the police.
Ruda Ram Choudhary a resident of Sastri Nagar area of Velampalayam in Tirupur runs a grocery store in Odukadu, Tirupur.
On November 25, a gang of six people came to his shop and introduced them as CID officers. They later threatened to sue Ruda Ram Chaudhry for selling tobacco products illegally and hence demanded a sum of Rs. 5 lakhs to conceal the truth.
Perturbed by their threat, Ruda Ram agreed to pay Rs. 3 lakhs and promised to pay Rs. 50,000, later. As the gang were hell-bent on collecting the money and were continously haunting him over phone, Ruda Ram fell suspicious and registered a complaint with Anuparpalayam police station.
The police then found the fradulent act and set a trap to nab the culprits red-handed. As planned the police rounded up the gang while they came to collect money from the shop owner.

The accused have been identified as Sadiq Ali (44), Syed Ibrahim (47) and Mohammed Haneefa (42) from Tirupur.
Following their arrest, the police confiscated fifty thousand rupees and two, two-wheelers from them.

Police are on the search for Babu, Raghmatullah and Azraf, the remaining accused.
