Demanding permanent job and pension, a state-wide strike on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Noon Meal Employees association is being held at all districts across TN.
In Coimbatore, the protest was led by District President of the organization Palanisamy.

They also demanded Rs. 9000 pension for the retired employees and to fill the vacancies in several noon meal centres. They urged the Tamil Nadu government to meet the association to hear their demands.
The noon meals employees warned that if the State government does not schedule a meeting to discuss on their pleas they will go on indefinite strike.

As the protesters caused traffic disruptions, all 200 noon-meal workers were arrested.
