Retired postal employee accused of defrauding public money

Tirupur: A retired postal employee who had been working at Boomalur Post office in Tirupur has been accused of defrauding Rs. 3 lakh of public money.

Tirupur: A retired postal employee who had been working at Boomalur Post office in Tirupur has been accused of defrauding Rs. 3 lakh of public money.



Several farmers, workers of 100-day employment scheme, old-age pensioners from 20 villages in Boomalur Panchayat near Palladam, Tirupur have obtained a savings account at Boomalur Post Office in Tirupur. 

Balan (60) has been working in the post office for the last 30 years, Balan who retired three years ago has been handling all cash transactions and saving accounts. It is alleged that he has manipulated Rs. 2.75 lakhs of postal saving transactions. 

The victims who lost their money approached the post office and entered into a heated argument with the officials, today. They also demanded the police at Mangalam area to take action against Balan and recover their money. 



Police are on the search for Balan who is presently absconding. The incident created a furore in the area.
