Coimbatore: Addressing a press gathering here, Human Rights Advocate P. Mohan who is representing arrested Maoist Deepak alleged that the Chattishgarh police who are stationed here to take custody of Maoist Deepak have plotted to kill him in a fake encounter.

The senior advocate also accused the Police for booking fake charges on Deepak including weapons training allegations. He strongly denied the allegation putforth by the Coimbatore police of Deepak's involvement in weapons training.

He asserted that after capturing Deepak the police have brutally beaten him up and caused severe injuries to his extremities for which he was treated at Coimbatore GH.

"To cover up all these violations, the police denied permission to us to meet Deepak. Despite court orders allowing us to visit Deepak at GH, the police and the resident doctor denied entry to us. Hence, we had to move to the Madras High Court regarding the issue", he alleged.

He also claimed that Deepak has no connection with the deadly encounter in 2010 at Sukma district in Chattishgarh which claimed the life of 76 CRPF personnel.

Advocates Raja, Sathyabalan and others were present during the press briefing.
