Addressing students, Vivek lamented that the Nilgiris district, fondly referred to as the Queen of Hill Stations was fast losing its natural charm and beauty, and deteriorating due to plastic waste and various activities that go against Nature.

Addressing students, Vivek lamented that the Nilgiris district, fondly referred to as the Queen of Hill Stations was fast losing its natural charm and beauty, and deteriorating due to plastic waste and various activities that go against Nature.
Vivek planted the native, yet declining Shola saplings. Following this, he addressed the students and regaled about the Blue Hills being an integral part of the Western Ghats. "The water sourced in the Nilgiris mountains of the Western Ghats is the most basic source of water for the state of Tamil Nadu. It is our responsibility to protect this source of water," stressed Vivek.
He highlighted the irresponsible attitude of tourists visiting the Nilgiris who dispose plastic carelessly in forests, thus causing harm to wildlife and cattle. Vivek also raised the issue of deforestation and how it causes climate change. "Rain duration for three months can occur in a single day, here. As a result, floods and landslides are causing havoc in Nilgiris," he added. Vivek also emphasized the need to protect streams in the district.
