The less than 20-year-elephant that went roaming around the village of Arthanaripalayam in Pollachi was brought under control by tranquillisers and Kumki elephant around 1 am on Thursday.
He was loaded inside a truck and was taken to Varagaliyaru elephant camp in Anamalai Tiger Reserve.
The villagers showered praises and thanked the foresters for tracking down the animal and capturing him before any more untoward incident could occur.
