Coimbatore: Distributing welfare assistance to a tune to 1511 beneficiaries at the Special Grievance Redressal Meeting held today at a Government School in Karamadai near Mettupalayam, Minister SP Velumani pointed that AIADMK has been at public service at all times unlike DMK whose presence can be felt only during elections.

The Minister distributed welfare assistance worth Rs. 7.4 crore towards patta, old age pension agricultural loan, free cattle, chickens, sewing machines, subsidized two-wheeler and loans for women's self-help group .
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that in the last nine years of the AIADMK regime, extensive projects worth Rs. 6000 crores including road works, overhead bridges and drinking water system are being implemented in the district of Coimbatore alone.
"Over the years, people have realised that our party - AIADMK works for the people at all times but DMK works only during elections. Though DMK won a majority during the recent Lok Sabha elections, people have realised their mistake and cast their votes for AIADMK at the Nanguneri and Vikravandi by-elections", he said.
The Minister also recalled the dream project of the Kongu region, the Avinashi-Athikadavu project which was implemented by AIADMK. "When CM was notified of omition of certain areas in Mettupalayam including Karamadai, Sirumugai, Periyanaickenpalayam, SS Kulam, he immediately gave a nod to add those areas in the second phase of Athikadavu project. A special team has been formed to monitor the works and finish it ontime", he noted.
District Collector, K. Rajamani, MP O.K. Selvaraj, MLA O.K Chinnaraj and government officials of various departments were present.
