Coimbatore: Expressing their disapproval and shock against revoking Goondas act of the two main accused in the Pollachi sexual abuse case, the Vice President of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) U. Vasuki apprised that they would be staging a massive demonstration against the injustice and bias showed in the case by the police department.

The AIDWA has alleged that the police department has intentionally denied permission for holding a protest seeking justice on the ongoing Pollachi sexual abuse case. Following denial of permission, the members of AIDWA spear-headed by Vice President, U. Vasuki had escalated the issue to the District Superintendent of Police office seeking permission.

Citing the recent Court order revoking the Goondas act charged on Sabarirajan and Thirunavukarasu, allegedly the main accused in the case, the members of AIDWA alleged that ineffective investigation by the police has repealed them from Goondas act.

"On behalf of all parties, it was decided to stage a protest today evening at Thiruvalluvar ground in Pollachi demanding the police to carry out an unbiased investigation. However, the police department denied permission for the same", alleged U. Vasuki, VP of AIDWA during a press briefing here on Friday.

"Due to the severity of the issue, the District Collector ordered to book the two main accused under Goondas act. While activists and common people welcomed the move, they have now been freed from Goondas act by the Court because of the inefficiency of the police department in submitting strong substantial evidence against them."

She further added that protest condemning the police department on their biased investigation will be held, even if permission is being denied.
