Coimbatore: Commenting on the Supreme Court's verdict on the Sabarimala temple case, Hindu Makkal Katchi leader, Arjun Sampath stated at a press briefing that the verdict was disappointing and said that the Central Government should come up with a special law to protect the temple.

Addressing the media, Arjun Sampath said, "The verdict on the Sabarimala temple is very disappointing and has caused anxiety among the devotees of Lord Ayyappa. Moreover, the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinayari Vijayan staged a horrific act by making use of feminist women to enter the temple. He will try to do the same this year. We, the devotees of Lord Ayyappa will oppose this verdict and will continue to engage in a holy war to preserve the sanctity of the temple. The Central Government should not be a mere audience of the efforts taken to tarnish the sanctity of the temple and has to pass special legislation to safeguard the temple," he added. He further reiterated that the temple should be brought under the control of the Central Government.
