School children from 70 Government schools in Mettupalayam and surrounding areas in Coimbatore district, in a coordinated effort laughed non-stop for 15 minutes, as a world record attempt.
Abhayam Academy and Amma Bhagavan Foundation jointly conducted a 'series (continuous) laughter yoga training' at Mahajana Higher Secondary School premises. More than 1000 children collectively participated in the exercise called 'laughter yoga." This record effort was also undertaken in various other Government schools in their individual campuses.
The Administrator of Abhayam Academy, Umarani Vijayakumar inaugurated the 'Laughter Yoga' for school children. Organizers of this event informed that exercises like ' series (continuous) laughter yoga' and clapping hands, help in relieving children from mental stress and psychological disorders.
Additionally, this effort has been recorderd as a new world record in the Kalam Book of Records and students have been presented with certificates citing this record. 10,000 students from all over Mettupalayam have participated in this record setting event. This event was presented in front of the Chief Officer of the Kalam Book of Records. Regional Educational Officers, Desing, Ramesh Babu, school teachers, parents and public participated in the event.
