Coimbatore: The 550th birthday of the Sikh religious guru, Gurunanak Dev was celebrated on November 12 at the Gurudwara Singh Sabha in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The 550th birthday of the Sikh religious guru, Gurunanak Dev was celebrated on November 12 at the Gurudwara Singh Sabha in Coimbatore.
Various religious leaders, social activists and Heads of NGOs were invited for the event which was celebrated as a festival of communal harmony.
The devotees of Guru Nanak Dev embraced whoever entered the Gurudwara Singh Sabha and greeted them. Those entering the Gurudwara were given coloured scarves to cover their heads. They were then ushered inside to sit beside the holy shrine for worship. Prayer songs known as 'kirtans' were sung.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind's Public Relations Office Secretary, Abdul Hakkim, Knowledge Center In-charges Bir Mohammed, Anis and Ibrahim Badshah, and others took part in the ceremony.
