Coimbatore: Condemning the tragic incident where a 30-year old woman sustained severe injuries after falling from her two-wheeler to avoid being hit by a tottering AIADMK flag pole near Goldwins in Coimbatore on Monday, about 300 DMK party cadres staged a protest demanding action against those responsible for the accident. They were later arrested by the city police.
Rajeshwari alias Anuradha, a resident of Singanallur was severely injured in the accident. Her relatives accused that the AIADMK flagpole by the roadside was the reason for the accident.

About 300 DMK party cadres led by MLA N Karthik staged a protest in front of the South Taluk Office demanding action against those responsible for Anuradha's accident. MLA N Karthik accused that the police were trying to destroy the evidence that caused the accident and were covering up the issue to cover the AIADMK.

They claimed that the flagpole was erected without prior permission and that the police were acting favourable to the AIADMK. They demanded that the victim be adequately compensated.

About 300 party cadres who had staged the protest without due permission were arrested by the city police.
