CCMC assigns one Contractor for each Zone to fill pot holes

Coimbatore: With complaints piling up from every corner of the city about poor road conditions filled with potholes, the CCMC has planned to assign road patch work to one contractor in each Zone.

Coimbatore: With complaints piling up from every corner of the city about poor road conditions filled with potholes, the CCMC has planned to assign road patch work to one contractor in each Zone.

Earlier, an allotment of Rs. 80 crores was sanctioned to carry basic repair works like filling potholes. However, no new roads were laid across the Corporation limits due to the ongoing UGD works. Now, the Corporation has decided to repair the roads by allocating each Zone to one contractor.

"The contractors have been asked to fill the potholes by cutting the holes in a square shape, fill in with wet mix and close the pothole thoroughly. Once the work is completed, they should upload the completed work and based on total square feet of work done payments will be approved. This way the contractors will be made accountable. And, also officials can monitor the works closely", said Corporation Commissioner J. Sravan Kumar.

The Commissioner noted that "Even before commencing the work, the contractors should identify pot holes in their respective zones, take photographs and upload pictures in the app that CCMC has designed for its internal use."

He added that contractors have been instructed to finish the road repair and pot hole filling work quickly in a month’s time.
