At the Coonoor railway station in Nilgiris district, various paintings adorn the outer wall of the toilet to depict the culture of the Tamil people, which was a treat to behold. As part of this initiative, Thiruvalluvar's picture too was painted on Tuesday.
Public welfare organizations that opposed the initiative urged the Railway administration to remove the painting. Following this, the authorities removed the Thiruvalluvar painting to still the controversy.
As a result, Tamil organizations that had decided to protest withdrew the decision to do so, after the painting was removed.
