Coimbatore: The much-awaited 'Food Court' was inaugurated at the Coimbatore Central Railway Station here on Wednesday.
Coimbatore: The much-awaited 'Food Court' was inaugurated at the Coimbatore Central Railway Station here on Wednesday.
E. Harirkrishnan, IRTS Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Salem inaugurated the food court which will offer passengers a wide choice of food varieties from established brands. With separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian dining areas, the passengers have welcomed the move by the railways.
The Railway Division had earmarked an area for Food Plaza at the concourse area in Coimbatore Junction. The construction of the Food plaza was completed in a span of three months, following which the IRCTC tendered out the unit to caterers for setting up the Food Plaza.
To elevate the ambience of the railway station, the food court here has been designed at par with the food courts in the airport. Similar, food courts already exists in Salem and Erode Junction. The one just inaugurated at Coimbatore Junction is the third Food Plaza in this division and the next one is proposed to be set up at the Tirupur station at the earliest, said an official.
During the inauguration, Sathish Saravanan, Station director, Coimbatore, IRCTC officials and other station authorities were present.
