The Nilgiris: With two elephants camped at the 9th hairpin bend of the Mettupalayam (MTP) - Coonoor road, the Forest Department has cautioned motorists, especially those on two-wheelers, to proceed with caution.
For the past three days, elephants have been straying on the road near the 9th and 10th hairpin bends, even during the day. Since the elephants seemed to be ferocious and could charge on to motorists, the Forest Department has cautioned motorists to drive with care while approaching that particular stretch.
The forest officials are also closely monitoring the situation.
