During the survey, consultant S Sampath Kumar, Supervising Engineer (Administration) N Murali, Executive Engineers A Muthiah, Raghupathi and other Government officials were present.
The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board Director, C N Maheshwaran said, "The sewerage project for the areas Kurichi and Kuniyamuttur (Ward 87-100) is being implemented at Rs. 591.14 crores and the drinking water project is being implemented at Rs. 202.30 crores by TWAD. 14 wards in Kurichi and Kuniyamuthur will be benefitted.
The highlight of the underground sewerage project is that for the first time a stench eliminator is being fixed. Also, once the sewage pipes have been installed, the pits will be closed and the roads will be paved with concrete at regular intervals. For drinking water projects, 18 new drinking water overhead tanks, two drinking water tanks and drinking water distribution pipelines are being implemented in these areas," he added.
