A dispute arose between Veerabandi from Sivanandapuram in Coimbatore and his friend Dhanushkumar from Chinavedampatti over a WhatsApp status. At one point, when the fight escalated, Dhanush Kumar with his friends Mohanraj, Karthik, Arun, Ajith Kumar, Satish Kumar and Santosh Kumar stabbed Veerabandi with a knife.
Veerabandi who was injured in the fight was taken to the hospital. Prashanth, Vasanthakumar and Gopalakrishnan who arrived at the spot to support Veerabandi reportedly attacked the other gang, later.
The Saravanampatti police arrested Dhanush Kumar, Arul, Ajit Kumar, Santosh Kumar, Prashant, Veerabandi, Vasanthakumar and Gopala Krishnan.
