Coimbatore: The Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI, S P Velumani received petitions from the public at the Chief Minister's Special Grievance Day meet held in Pollachi, Mahalingapuram and Vadachitoor areas of Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI, S P Velumani received petitions from the public at the Chief Minister's Special Grievance Day meet held in Pollachi, Mahalingapuram and Vadachitoor areas of Coimbatore.
After receiving petitions from the public, Minister S P Velumani granted Government welfare assistance worth Rs. 7.85 crores to 2413 beneficiaries.
Minister S.P Velumani addressed the gathering saying, "The ex-Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, late J Jayalalithaa implemented various programs in school and higher education sectors. She revitalized the education sector with the goal to eliminate illiteracy in Tamil Nadu. Following her path, the present CM of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami has reserved more funds for education and is implementing various programs through the Education Department. The State Government is also implementing various scholarships required for higher education and infrastructure for better education," he reiterated.
Minister S P Velumani and TN Deputy Speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman laid the foundation stone for the new building to be constructed at an estimated Rs. 8 crores for an Arts and Science College, affiliated to the Bharathiar University and for the joint drinking water plan worth Rs. 72.65 crores for 212 rural residential areas.
S P Velumani noted that the CM had implemented various welfare schemes for the benefit of the public. To make the public aware of various schemes introduced for them, a public relation camp has been organized on behalf of the Chief Government Officers once a month. The District Collector is to preside over the camp.
To address the grievances of the public, a Public Grievance Day meeting is to be held every Monday. Redressal camps to address the grievances of farmers, pensioners and the differently abled are being organized. The camps will address various demands such as pension for the elderly, abandoned widows' pension, pension for the differently abled, free house land patta, caste certificate, income certificate, legal heir certificate etc are also being issued immediately at these camps.
To further strengthen these efforts, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has issued a special grievance addressing scheme under 11o rule on November 18. An amount of Rs. 76.25 lakhs has been allocated for the implementation of this special scheme. After advertising on the same, based on the orders of the District Collector, a Committee of officials from either the Revenue Department, Rural Development and Urban Development and other sectors will receive petitions on a specified date.
All these petitions will be filed into the computer and sent to the concerned Department officials within a week and immediate solutions are expected to be provided for the problems raised in the petitions.
As a part of this, a grievance camp is being held in Pollachi and Vadachitoor, today. Minister S P Velumani assured that all petitions received will be dispatched within a week to the concerned departments and will be resolved immediately. Apart from granting benefits to the beneficiaries, various other basic needs for the people such as roads, street lights, medicines, sanitation and drinking water too will be provided. This scheme is reportedly one of the key initiatives of the State Government to address the grievances of the people.
