With the Nilgiris district receiving heavy rainfall throughout last night, people living in low-lying areas were affected. Though the Kandhal residents had called the Ooty Municipality Administration over the phone to quickly send help to clean their inundated homes, no one from the Municipality addressed their grievance. Condemning the indifferent behaviour of the civic authorities, the residents staged the road roko on the main Kandhal Road, thus disrupting traffic to Ooty.
The residents later withdrew their protest after the officials who arrived promised to clean up the inundated areas immediately.
