Rajeswari (31) alias Anuradha, the sole breadwinner for her family who was on a two-wheeler on Avinashi Road en route to Gokulam Park for work on Monday, when she was grievously injured while trying to avoid a tottering AIADMK flagpole by the roadside. Braking suddenly, Anuradha caused her vehicle to skid while she herself fell onto the road and was caught under the wheels of a lorry that was behind her vehicle.

Only months ago, another 23-year old engineer Subhasri was killed in Chennai when she was thrown off her scooter by a falling illegal hoarding and hit by a water tanker. Following the accident, the Court banned placing flex banners on roadsides.

Anuradha has reportedly suffered serious injuries to both legs and having been rushed to a private hospital by on-lookers, is under treatment now. Her relatives are demanding action against those who had erected the flagpole for the Chief Minister's visit to the city for a private function.
