The Nilgiris: More than 200 women from the Women Self Help Group spearheaded the Tea Promotion Rally in Ooty which was jointly organized by Tea Board India, Coonoor and Tamil Nadu and State Rural Livelihood Mission (Mahalir Thittam), Ooty.
The Executive Director of Tea Board, Zonal Office at Coonoor inaugurated the rally which aimed to raise awareness for tea production in Ooty. The women from the Self Help Group participated in the rally holding placards and banners.
The rally began at the Ooty Coffee House and ended at the Tribal Cultural Centre near Botanical Garden, covering Commercial Road, Charring Cross and other main streets of Ooty. The Director of Mahalir Thittam, Babu and other Government officials took part in the event.
