The Nilgiris: Over 200 residents of Thailamalai in Melloor village petitioned the District Collector, J Innocent Divya demanding various basic amenities and opposing installation of the garbage disposal device in their area.
The main demands in the petition were for basic amenities like drinking water and bus transport facility to more than five villages in the area. The petition also opposed the decision to install a garbage disposal machine in the area which could prove to be a serious threat to children, women and the elderly. The residents also warned of staging a protest if the administration takes steps to install the machine in their area.
