The Nilgiris: The 'Lakota' fruit season is underway at the Coonoor Government Horticulture Fruit Farm.
The Lakota fruit, which is native to central China, also known as the Chinese fruit and Japanese fruit is used by the Horticulture Department in Coonoor for making jelly and jam.
The jam produced here is shipped and sold at the Jelly Horticulture Department-owned outlets in Kattery, Barliyar, Kallar, Yercaud and Kodaikanal. Locals and tourists are overjoyed at this initiative.
