The Nilgiris: A five-year-old male leopard was found dead inside a private tea estate Coonoor here on Sunday. The tea estate workers who noticed the carcass alerted the forest officials.
Foresters including Ranger Saravanan, Forester Felix, Manikandan, Nagaraj, Vikram and Lokeshwaran who retrieved the carcass said that the leopard could have died following a fight with another male leopard.
A post mortem was conducted by veterinarian Raj Murali after which the the carcass was burnt at the same place. Vital organs were removed for further examination.
