Though a rare occurrence despite the area hosting a healthy tiger population in its tiger reserves, the sight of the tiger has sent a panic wave among people, especially estate workers and motorists.
In the video caught on Saturday night, the tiger was strolling on the Gudalur-Sulthan Bathery road for a while, before disappearing into the dense reserve area.
