Launching a book titled 'Anna Kanda Thiyagarayar' by Late Former CM Anna Durai at an event organised by Dravida Siragugal organisation here in Coimbatore on Saturday, A. Raja recited the verses by the time immemorial Tamil poet, Thiruvallur who said 'பிறப்பொக்கும் எல்லா உயிர்க்கும்...' which means all lives born in this world are the same and cannot be differentiated. Expressing his views on the values proposed by Bhagavat Gita and Valluvam, the MP said that while the former book regarded to be holy by the BJP approves of killing (as quoted by Lord Krishna) and discriminates people as four types based on their births. Contrary to this, the values of 'Valuvam' dignifies humanity and says all are equal by birth.
"From the day, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power, acts to destroy the IPC and establish Manu's ideologies is at the forefront. One among them is the idea of proposing Bhagavat Gita as India's national book which again can be done only after burning our IPC", opined Raja.
He also alleged that BJP's tricks of trying to make everyone follow a uniform ideology of Hinduism and Hindi will never be realised, especially their dreams cannot be realised in Tamil Nadu.
"BJP's recent gimmick to saffronise Thiruvallur is a clear indication of their continued intent to rewrite the history of the Tamils and diminish our identities", accused the MP.
Another guest for the event, Karthikeya Sivasenapathy, Managing Trustee of SKCRF also came down heavily on saffronisation of Thiruvalluvar and slammed the Centre for painting a different past on the Tamils.
He also recalled the recent Keezhadi excavation and how the results from the excavations have escalated the cultural historiography of the ancient Sangam Age.
"The Tamizhi scriptures on pottery specimens, the spindle whorls and other deposits unearthed during excavations at Keezhadi clearly indicates that we were a much civilised society and attained literacy or learned the art of writing as early as 6th century BCE, which no supporter of BJP is willing to hail", opined Karthikeya Sivasenapathy.
"The continous efforts by the Centre to rewrite the antiquity of Tamil language and the civilisation is a futile exercise. Much efforts is taken to alter the historiography of the existence of the Tamil civilisation. And, Keezhadi has brought to light the truth", opined Karthikeya.
Recalling the impact of the social justice movement and it's impact in Tamil Nadu and particularly in Kongu region, Karthikeya Sivasenapathy cited that literacy levels in the Kongu region grew from 'single digits to almost everyone being educated now'.
Earlier, the organiser of Dravida Siragukal welcomed the guests. Members from the organisation, Dravidam and Tamil enthusiasts were present at the event.
It may be recalled that the book 'Anna Kanda Thiyagarayar' by Late Former CM Anna Durai was released in the year 1983 by Dravida Pathipagam. The book was republished by Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kalagam in the year 2017.
