Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Special Task Force personnel arrested a suspected Maoist at gunpoint near tribal settlements at Moolakkangal in Coimbatore here today.
The Maoist identified as Deepak was roaming around with two more Maoists in the bordering hamlets in recent times and was searched by police personnel from Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Two days ago, a video of Deepak training in a forested landscape went viral in social media and three special teams were formed to nab him by the Coimbatore Police under Coimbatore Superintendent of Police, Murthy.

The teams tracked him down inside the reserve near the Chembukkarai tribal settlement at Mooakkangal and Deepak was arrested at gun point by the Tamil Nadu special task force. However, two more suspected Maoists Madhesh and another unidentified lady fled the scene and search was on to arrest them in the interstate border.
Since there were no pending cases on Deepak in Tamil Nadu, he is to be treated for his wounds at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and handed over to the Kerala Police in Palakkad whose Thunderbolt team was searching for him.
