The verdict in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid case is to be announced today in the Supreme Court. Ahead of the verdict, security has been strengthened throughout the country.
From the moment of announcement that the judgment will be declared on Saturday around 10.30 am, security has been strengthened in city police limit areas.
The police are also intensely patrolling places where people gather in large numbers like the bus stands, railway station and airport.
About 2,800 police personnel led by ADGP Shankar Jiwal have been deployed in strengthening security in Coimbatore city.
Similarly, over 200 armed Rapid Action Force personnel are on duty, especially in areas described sensitive by the city police like Aathupalam, Kuniamuthur, Karumbukadai, Gandhipuram and Ukkadam.
As the entire city is under the security blanket, public movement has decreased and normalcy has been affected.
