Coimbatore: Following the raid at the South Fire and Rescue Office on Friday night, the DVAC slueths arrested M. Balasubramaniam (52), the District Fire Officer who was caught red-handed, while accepting bribery on Friday.
The officer was caught, while he accepted a bribe of Rs. 40,000 from a man for issuing no objection certificate (NOC) for his petrol bunk. The man, Baladhandapani of Avarampalayam alerted the DVAC sleuths of the monetary demands sought by the District Fire Officer, of Balasubramaniam for issuing NOC to his petrol bunk.
The DVAC sleuths who set a trap to nab the officer red-handed, orchestrated a drama by sending Baladhandapani to meet Balasubtmrmaniam in his office on Friday and hand over the bribery amount of RS. 40,000. While doing so, the DVAC officials caught the officer red-handed.
After several hours of interrogation, the District Officer, Balasubramaniam was arrested at his office located opposite to Railway Station.
