Ayodhya Verdict: Security beefed up in Coimbatore; police warns public from spreading hate messages and rumours in social media

Coimbatore: With just hours to go for the Supreme Court to pronounce its verdict in the politically sensitive case of Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute in Ayodhya, security has been beefed up and the district police is keeping extra vigil across the City to avoid untoward incidents.



Coimbatore: With just hours to go for the Supreme Court to pronounce its verdict in the politically sensitive case of Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute in Ayodhya, security has been beefed up and the district police is keeping extra vigil across the City to avoid untoward incidents.

Upon orders from J. K. Tripathy, Director-General of Police/Head of Police Force, security measures are being tightly monitored by the district police heads across the State. 

In Coimbatore, the police have also held meetings with religious heads to maintain peace and harmony on Saturday, the day of the verdict. Shops and establishments were being asked to shut down by 11 pm on Friday. 

Security has been enhanced at bus stands, airports and all public gathering spots. Especially, strict vigil on social media and websites has also been ordered. The district police have warned of strict action against those who spread hate and fake messages on social media to create panic. Users are advised to post with discretion and refrain from any activity which would adversely affect peace tranquility of the society. 

The police have apprised that elaborate security arrangements and all precautionary measures are being taken in the district.  Additional deployment of poluce personnel has been arranged at religious places including prominent temples and mosques across the city. 

A notice regarding the pronouncement of judgement by a Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, was uploaded on the official website of the Supreme Court late Friday evening.
