A special team of police led by Superintendent of Police, C. Kalaiselvan of the Nilgiris district on Friday arrested Kumar, of Bethadi Village near Coonoor for breaking into a house and having eloped with 33.5 sovereign of gold ornaments and RS. 3 lakh cash.

Last month, in a burglary incident in a house in Bethadi Village near Coonoor 33.5 sovereign gold ornaments and RS. 3 lakhs cash was looted.
Maasi, the owner of the house lodged a complaint at the Coonoor police station. Later, upon orders from the SP, a special team under the supervision of the Deputy SP was formed to nab the culprit.
On Friday, during a vehicle inspection by Inspector Anand of Wellington Police Station, the police personnel stopped a car for inspection. Upon inquiry, the police felt suspicious about the driver of the car as he had been giving contradicting answers. Following which the police took him to the Wellington police station for further investigation.
Shockingly, it was found that the man had burgled the house at Bethadi Village and has been carrying around the looted gold and cash in his car. The burglar has been identified as Kumar from Bethadi.
The Police booked him under appropriate sections and produced him at the Kothagiri Criminal Court and remanded him.
