Acting on a tip off that senior officials at the South Divisional Office of the Fire and Rescue Services located opposite to Railway Station are involved in corruption, the DVAC sleuths on Friday evening held a surprise raid at the office.
The office of the District officer and Additional Director of Fire and Rescue Services is located in this buding which is the primary office and controls the operation of ten other fire stations including Ganapathy, Peelamedu, Annur, Pollachi, Valparai and others.
In this scenario, the DVAC officials have received a complaint that the senior officials of the department are involved in corruption for sanctioning various approvals for other stations.
Acting upon the allegation, the DVAC sleuths are investigating the officials. However, details of any unaccounted cash or possible arrests of higher officials for their involvement in corruption are yet to be known.
