Movement of Maoists has been on the rise in the Western Ghats in recent years. A few days ago, four Maoists were shot dead in the firing that took place between the Thunderbolt police and the Maoists in Kerala's Palakkad district. Three others in the group escaped.
Following this, the police have beefed up security on the Tamil Nadu border areas and tribals have been advised to alert the police if they come across any Maoist in their tribal areas.
Meanwhile the DGP of Tamil Nadu, Tripathi presided over a special consultation meeting with the higher officials of the Special Task Force (STF) which was held at the guest house in the PRS grounds. Murthy, SP, STF and other higher officials took part in the meeting.
According to police sources, after an interval, the consultation meeting will discuss on strengthening security arrangements to protect law and order, ahead of the Ayodhya verdict.
