Coimbatore: The Dravidar Tamilar Katchi (DTK) has filed a complaint at the Coimbatore Commissioner's office demanding the arrest of the Hindu Makkal Katchi leader, Arjun Sampath under the Goondas Act.

The act of draping a statue of Thiruvalluvar with a saffron shawl, placing a rudraksha and smearing holy ash on the forehead of the statue by Arjun Sampath has stirred a hornet's nest in the city. Hence, the Dravidar Tamilar Katchi demanded that Arjun Sampath be arrested under the Goondas Act for continuously instigating communal tension in the society. The complainants arrived at the Coimbatore Commissioner's office, with pictures of Thiruvalluvar and the Thirukkural book.

The DTK alleged that Arjun Sampath has imposed Hindu identities on Thiruvalluvar who has been considered common to all and hence the act was done with the full awareness that it will cause communal tension.
