Coimbatore: The public has requested the Valparai Municipality to maintain the dilapidated children's park at Valparai which was built at a cost of several lakhs in 2010.

The area surrounding the park has overgrown thorn bushes with reports of leopards taking shelter in them. The public lament that no one visits the park anymore considering the safety of their children. The road to the park, rest rooms, sports equipment, lights and water tanks in the park too are either broken or damaged.

Public complain that some men drink alcohol in the park and leave behind smashed glass bottles. Litter is seen all across the park and resting spots have turned into shelters for cattle. Hence the public has demanded that the municipal administration take immediate steps to renovate the park, remove the thorn bushes, maintain the road and appoint security guards to allow the public in Valparai to enjoy visiting the park.
