Grand celebrations in city planned ahead of Guru Nanak's 550th birth anniversary

To mark the 550th birth aniversary of founder Guru Nanak Devji on November 12, the Gurudwara Singh Sabha in Coimbatore has planned grand celebrations and religious sessions in the city.


To mark the 550th birth aniversary of founder Guru Nanak Devji on November 12, the Gurudwara Singh Sabha in Coimbatore has planned grand celebrations and religious sessions in the city. 

Ongoing celebrations to commemorate this event are to be held from November 6 to 12 and this is expected to be a once-in-a lifetime event for followers of Guru Nanak Devji said Gurudwara Singh Sabha members in Coimbatore.



On November 10, the recitation of Guru Granth Sahib is scheduled to begin at 8 am and simultaneously Nishan

Sahib Sewa will be held at 9 am. On the same day, a Nagar Kirtan (procession) will be held at 2.30 pm in which the deorated holy Granth Sahib along with a group of priests from Punjab reciting hymns, followed by a Bagpiper band from Punjab, members of the Sikh community, guests from all parts of the city totalling to over 600 people are expected to take part in the event, according to S Iqbal Singh, President, S Gurpreet Singh, Vice President and S Sher Singh, Secretary.
