Coimbatore: Expressing her condemnation against the arrest of Arjun Sampath, the leader of Hindu Makkal Katchi on Wednesday at Thanjavur, BJP TN State Secretary, Vanathi Srinivasan has called it 'unfair'.

"While people of some sections are trying to defame the great poet Thiruvalluvar, Arjun Sampath and his accomplices have paid floral respects to the legendary poet. It's shocking that he was courted arrest for an act of respect", alleged Vanathi Srinivasan after participating in a private event here, today.

"BJP has always held Thiruvalluvar in high esteem. Thirukural is a Hindu religious book. The great poet Thiruvalluvar has reflected many Hindu ideologies in Thirukkural. Hence, there is no dispute. He is a Hindu poet. However, despite such clear proofs , the dravidian parties are using Thirukkural for political benefits", she alleged.

When questioned on the continuance of alliance with AIADMK for the upcoming local body elections, she said the alliance still continues in Tamil Nadu. And, at the time of local body elections, agreement on seat sharing would be discussed in detail, she noted.
